Description:Laura Penny is the executive director of the Women's Foundation for Southern Arizona. The foundation advances women s leadership and philanthropy by raising, managing and granting money to meet the needs of women and girls. Over $1.2 million has been invested in programs for women and girls in southern Arizona through this foundation. Investing in programs that support women is an economic development tool assuring self-sufficency and contributing to the local economy. The presentation will run approximately 45 minutes with a 10 minute Q & A.

Santa Rita Democrats February Meeting
Date:Saturday, February 13
Description:Light refreshments, meet and greet and our remarkable LD-30 State Senate candidate, Dr. Todd Camenisch. Dr. Camenisch received the B.S. degree at the University of Arizona in 1991 and served honorably in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman and U.S. Marine field medic. While earning the Ph. D. degree in Microbiology/Immunology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he continued his emergency medical training by volunteering on the local county Rescue squad rising to lieutenant. Todd trained at the Mayo Clinic where his focus was on children s health, work he now continues as an Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Arizona. Dr. Camenisch is a most active member of his local school board and has a deep commitment to education and science. Once an Independent, he is now a Democrat and is greatly concerned about the legislature s lack of bipartisan work in solving the states enormous budgetary and many associated problems.

Democratic Women in Action Environmental Meeting

Description:It's all about water! The program will expose and explain how the proposed mine in the Davidson Canyon in conjuntion with the proposed Rosemont mine will affect the Cienega Creek, a tributary that contributes to 20% of the Tucson Basin Water Discharge.
