The 4th Avenue underpass is reopening, just in time for Tucson's 234th birthday! Come at 4:00 PM for the opening ceremony with city leaders, featuring Mayor Bob Walkup and City Council members--including our 2009 Democratic candidates Karin Uhlich and Nina Trasoff! The Old Pueblo trolley will perform the "ribbon-cutting" and will run all evening from the U of A's Main Gate through downtown. Special events will take place along 4th Ave. and downtown, with live music, an Antique and Hot Rod Car Show, merchant specials, and fun activities for all!

The Pima County Democratic Party is proud to present an evening with one of our favorite guests, Jim Hightower! National radio commentator, writer, public speaker, and author of the book, Swim Against The Current: Even A Dead Fish Can Go With The Flow, Jim Hightower has spent three decades battling the Powers That Be on behalf of the Powers That Ought To Be - consumers, working families, environmentalists, small businesses, and just-plain-folks.

The event's Special Invited Guests include our 2009 Democratic Tucson City Council Candidates: Karin Uhlich, Richard Fimbres, and Nina Trasoff.
The event will be followed by a book-signing, with books available for purchase. Tickets are $25 before August 24th; $35 after.
