Barbara LaWall has been the Pima County Attorney since 1996. She will talk about some of the programs that her office has put in place, under her leadership, including what she has done to make our schools safer and the creation of a nationally modeled truancy enforcement program. Also on the agenda will be a discussion of the community justice boards – how community members are involved in stopping and preventing juvenile crime. It is possible that candidates for various offices may be present.

CD 8 Democratic candidate Ron Barber will be the guest speaker at the Monday, May 21 meeting of Saguaro Eastside Democrats along with the Tanque Verde Valley Democrats. Barber will face off against the Republican challenger in a special election on Tuesday, June 12, to fill the now-vacant seat previously held by Democrat Gabrielle Giffords.
The meeting will be held at New Spirit Lutheran Church, 8701 E. Old Spanish Trail (northeast corner of Camino Seco) and will begin at 6:30 p.m. with light refreshments. Barber will begin at 7 p.m. with time allocated for a question-and-answer period.
