Common Questions About Voting in Pima County
Arizona is an "open primary" state meaning those registered with no party preference / Independents may vote for candidates within the Primary Election. But you must choose a party when requesting your ballot. If you are on the Active Early Voting List, you should receive a notification by mail asking you to choose which party ballot you wish to receive about 90 days ahead of the election. Note this does not apply to Presidential Elections. Voters must be registered with the recognized party to vote.
You can register before you turn 18 only if you will be 18 by the next election. Note that you can only sign petitions once you turn 18.

In the state of Arizona, you must provide proof of citizenship to vote state and local elections. Otherwise you will be a "Federal-only" voter and will receive a limited ballot with only the President, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives races.
